Scott Britton
Scott Britton says he’s been a full time real estate investor since 1979, successfully buying, selling and investing in single family houses and mortgages. Of course, it’s not strictly true that he’s made his living from real estate investment, because he’s also had a money-making sideline: selling his expertise to you and me.
Scott Britton lives and works out of a high-tech home-office in Jackson, Mississippi, with his wife and three kids. He writes and publishes the monthly “University of Real Estate Letter” (subscription: about $100 a year) and he’s produced a couple of home study courses: “Sure-Fire Quick Start Guide For Real Estate Success” (about $300) and “Rehabbing Homes for Resale” (about $40).
Right now, he’s marketing a set of tapes that were recorded live at J.P. Vaughan's 1998 Creative Real Estate Online Convention in Las Vegas. These are thrown in free when you subscribe to his newsletter and they promise to expose the “real estate secrets the experts don’t want you to know about”. But delve deeper into his sales pitch, and these insider ‘secrets’ turn out to be pretty obvous stuff. It seems you can’t make money any more with the old ‘buy and hold’ strategy - you’ve got to sell your real esate fast. Well, call me dumb, but isn’t that known as ‘flipping’ properties, and aren’t there a whole bunch of gurus out there saying the exact same thing? Answer: yep (sigh).
